Dhoni and Sakshi tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony on July 4, 2010, in Dehradun with only friends and their families present for the occasion. Dhoni, who has always preferred his privacy, made no big announcements and ensured there was no media present for the event up north of India.
In his biographical drama 鈥楳S Dhoni: The Untold Story鈥, the former India skipper detailed how he met Sakshi for the first time. Their paths crossed when Dhoni was staying with the Indian team at the Taj Bengal Hotel in Kolkata during India鈥檚 home series against Pakistan in 2007. Sakshi, who was doing hotel management in Aurangabad at the time, was on an internship at the hotel.
As destiny would have it, Sakshi, who had no idea about cricket and Dhoni despite his astonishing fame, was introduced to him by his manager and common friend, Yudhajit Dutta. Dhoni was stumped by her beauty and the two started dating each other privately before ultimately ringing the wedding bells.
Dhoni and Sakshi announced the birth of their daughter, Ziva, in February 2015 while the former India captain was busy with the World Cup and decided to stay in Australia on national duty.
Dhoni鈥檚 men had an impressive run that ended with a semifinal defeat at the hands of the tournament co-hosts. The legend retired from international cricket after a glorious career in August 2020 and plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
