Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to participate in the 17th BRICS Summit at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz In谩cio Lula da Silva. Upon landing at Gale茫o International Airport, PM Modi was greeted with a grand welcome by members of the Indian community, who waved Indian flags and displayed images of Bharat Mata. The diaspora also praised Modi鈥檚 leadership and his respect for women, especially after Operation Sindoor, which showcased female officers’ empowerment in national security. The BRICS Summit will cover major topics such as global governance, peace and security, climate change, energy transformation, and amplifying the voice of the Global South. PM Modi is scheduled to hold five bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, including a key meeting with President Luiz In谩cio Lula da Silva. While Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are absent, PM Modi鈥檚 presence makes him a central figure in the summit. Brazil is expected to formally hand over BRICS chairmanship to India for 2026, further highlighting the visit鈥檚 strategic importance. The Indian business delegation is also engaging in investment dialogues, reinforcing India鈥檚 growing global influence.
