Anambra Lawmaker Enrolls 150 Constituents On State鈥檚 Health Insurance Scheme

AWKA 鈥 Honourable Anayo Okpalaeke, the member representing Aguata State Constituency-I in the Anambra State House of Assembly, has sponsored the enrollment of 150 of his constituents into the state鈥檚 Health Insurance scheme to promote their healthcare.

Okpalaeke who spoke on Saturday during a community outreach at Achina, Aguata Council Area of the state said the enrollment was to ensure access to quality healthcare in his constituency.

According to him, healthcare is not a privilege but a fundamental right of every citizen.

He said: 鈥淚 want my constituents to have access to quality healthcare without financial worry. This is why I am making this commitment today.

鈥淲ith this health insurance card, you can just walk into any health insurance accredited hospital in the state and access health status free of charge.

鈥淗ealthcare remains a top priority for me, and I will continue to deliver people-centered programmes that change lives,鈥 the lawmaker said.

He commended the state Governor , Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo鈥檚 administration for strongly supporting the health insurance platform, calling it a model of people-centered governance.

鈥淎ny truly people-focused government must prioritise healthcare, infrastructure, and essential services.

鈥淕overnor Soludo is doing just that and deserves our collective support,鈥 he intoned.

Hon Okpaleke thanked his constituents for their support all this while, and pledged to remain accountable to the people by providing annual account of his stewardship.

One of the beneficiaries, Archbishop Titus Orji, Chairman of the South East Pentecostal Bishops, appreciated the lawmaker for investing in the health of the people.

Another beneficiary, Mrs Dorothy Udoye, thanked the lawmaker for showing concern to the plight of the people and their health care especially the most vulnerable in the community.
