Since opening 15 months ago under the guidance of the church’s founder Dez , the Colorado Psychedelic Church has grown to a massive 700 fold congregation. It provides all attendees with “natural medicines” in the form of free psychedelics . Since the church has exploded in size the Dez has reached out to numerous individuals in the community to help with the day-to-day running. Two of these members are essential to the operation and have been dubbed by the congregation as “the Satanist and the Soccer Mum.” Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, Mark, a former member of the Satanic Temple nicknamed the “Satanist” by the church, explained his role and how he provides the “natural medicines” for free. Dubbed the Director of cultivation, Mark explained how he got into dealing with DMT (or Dimethyltryptamine – known for its short-lived psychedelic effects when inhaled or injected) and how he helps keep the church going through his work. “So I’m kind of in charge of growing the medicine or sake of substances for over 700 people at this point,” he said. “I’m known as the spore bearer. I’m kind of the one that provides all the sacred medicine around here via the mushrooms and things,” Mark explained. “I also do a lot of work with facilitating DMT because I do DMT quite a bit and lots of people come here for their breakthrough sessions and things because I like to give people the keys to the realm so to speak. “I just send them out to the galaxy and let them have fun and I’m right there when they come back to talk about it,” Mark explained. “It is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling hobbies you can ever get into. “And I just never looked back with that also and just full force and then found this community and got to lend my skills to the community and help other people heal through psilocybin with my skill set. “And I get to teach others how to grow their own medicine and things so everybody can have what they need to provide for their healing,” he added. The Daily Star also had the opportunity to speak to Sarah who had been dubbed the “Soccer Mum” by the congregation of the Psychedelic Church. Sarah revealed to the Star she helps to run a monthly women’s community group at the Psychedelic Church called “Sisterhood and Psychedelics”. “Our group is called Sisterhood and Psychedelics,” Sarah explained. “We meet once a month and we choose a theme for the month and we talk about that theme and how it relates to our experience as women and how it relates to our experience with using psychedelics.” Sarah explained to the Star how psychedelics had greatly improved her mental health and how her use of psychedelics had helped her to overcome trauma she had battled with since childhood. Sarah told the Star she had found true community at the Psychedelic Church and explained just how impactful the church was to her life. “I come to the community on days when I’m feeling happy, on days when I’m feeling frustrated or low or discouraged. And I’m not ashamed of who I am. I’m not ashamed of the difficulties that I have,” she said. “Here is true community, real support. We walk with each other hand in hand,” she added. Dez, the founder of the church, has revealed how life changing he has found his mission. “This saved my life – literally this, mushrooms, saved my life,” he said. “Mushrooms showed me the joy that I could find in my existence outside of my anxiety, outside of my depression. Dez told the Star he strives to help people understand these “natural medicines” both on a spiritual and a physical side. “I want people to have that clear understanding that, we’re not a dispensary, we’re a church.”
