DA dismisses ANC鈥檚 claims against Tshwane City Manager Johann Mettler

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tshwane has dismissed the African National Congress鈥 (ANC) claims that Tshwane City Manager Johann Mettler鈥檚 appointment was unlawful.

Former Tshwane mayor and DA caucus leader Cilliers Brink has defended Mettler鈥檚 appointment, stating he was selected for his professional expertise, qualifications, and experience.

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Greater Tshwane Region will be hosting a press briefing to address the recent irregular appointment of a City Manager by the Democratic Alliance (DA).

Brink argued that if there were issues with Mettler鈥檚 appointment, the Co-operative Governance MEC would have raised concerns in 2022 when the appointment was made.

鈥淢ettler, who is not a politician and is the best of the municipal manager, doesn鈥檛 get involved in politics, his obviously taking a clear objective of the law that he wants to preserve the integrity of the city and that doesn鈥檛 suit the ANC. It is now important that the Mayor of Tshwane makes her position clear,鈥 says Brink.
