AWKA 鈥 Education Made Me What I Am, Obi Tells Winners Of Debate Championship As He Donates N10M

The Presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi has told students of St. John Vienney Science College, Ukwulu that education is the highest investment to be made in a child鈥檚 life and that education made him what he is.Obi who visited the school to congratulate it for its victory in the inaugural Uk-Nigeria Debate Championship said it is the college鈥檚 success that attracted him to the school.He donated N10 million to the school and promised to continue to assist it as long as it makes progress.He congratulated the proprietor of the school Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma for investing in education, saying that nothing is more than education.Obi said Nigeria is in dire straits because it got its priorities wrong.According to him, Nigeria鈥檚 economy is declining because it did not invest in education to maintain its infrastructure and provide services.He said that when he was governor most of the site of Anambra State University was a bush until he began to develop it and now when he sees the university he feels happy.He said: 鈥淚 grew up because of education. I grew up to see General Gowan and Ojukwu because of education. I want to see you introduce yourself in future as big people. If your school didn鈥檛 win that award I won鈥檛 be here鈥.The proprietor of the school Rev. Fr. Obimma in an interview said he is privileged to have education and although he doesn鈥檛 have much he believes in investing in human development.According to him, his schools are science inclined and has culture of excellence.Rev. Fr. Obimma also said that his schools are open to everybody and affordable.Among the activities to welcome Obi to the school was a presentation by the team that worn the inaugural Uk-Nigeria debate championship as well as the senior prefect of the school.St. John Vienney Science College, Ukwulu was established six years ago, with another school at Obosi while proposing to establish another one in Rivers State.
