Americans are gearing up for one of the biggest holidays in the United States, the Fourth of July. July 4, the Independence Day in US, celebrates the Second Continental Congress’s unanimous adoption of the Declaration of Independence, which occurred on July 4, 1776. However, we should all be planning for our annual Fourth of July barbecues accordingly, since some grocery stores and retailers won’t be open at all on the holiday.Are grocery stores open on July 4?On July 4, Target and Walmart locations will be open during their regular local hours, reports CNN. Most grocery stores under Kroger — which includes Fred Meyer, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Ralphs and QFC — will be open during their regular hours on July 4. Costco warehouses, however, will be closed for the holiday.Are banks open on July 4?Since July 4 is a federal holiday in the US, it means all major banks (and pretty much all the minor ones) will be closed. Most other major national retailers such as Target and Walmart will be open, with some offering promotional sales to lure customers. Most grocery stores are also open. Hours may vary by location, so check your local store.According to CNN, Most TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Marshalls locations will be open until 8 p.m. Nordstrom, JCPenney and Macy’s will operate under normal business hours.Dollar General and Dollar Tree will also remain open on July 4, though hours may vary. They’ll reopen on Monday.Will there be any mail delivery on July 4?Don’t expect any mail or packages on Independence Day, July 4. The US Postal Service does not operate on July 4 and UPS and FedEx generally suspend deliveries that day as well. Some FedEx Office Print & Ship Centers will be open, but be sure to call before you head there.Are pharmacies open on July 4?CVS stores and pharmacies will be open, though some may operate on reduced hours. Walgreens stores will follow regular hours, but most of its pharmacies — except 24-hour and select locations — will be closed. Rite Aid will remain open as usual, according to CNN.Are postal services open in US on July 4?Independence Day is a holiday for the United States Postal Service, so it won’t be picking up or delivering mail on July 4.UPS will not offer pickup or delivery service either, although UPS Express Critical will be available for urgent shipments.
