Shannon Airport Posts 7% Passenger Growth in Strong First Half of 2025

Shannon Airport has recorded a strong performance for the first six months of 2025, welcoming over 1.04 million passengers 鈥 an increase of more than 7% on the same period in 2024.

Mary Considine, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group said: 鈥淎s we continue to deliver strong growth and expand our international reach, it鈥檚 vital that the new National Aviation Policy recognises the strategic importance of Shannon Airport. With the right policy support, we can unlock even greater connectivity, drive regional economic development, and ensure balanced growth across the country.鈥

This growth builds on a successful 2024, when Shannon Airport saw over 2.1 million passengers, the highest annual total in 15 years. The airport鈥檚 expanding network of 38 routes to 12 countries continues to attract both leisure and business travellers.

Earlier this month, Ryanair announced the addition of a fourth based aircraft at Shannon, along with three new routes to Lapland, Madeira, and Madrid, and increased frequencies on six existing services. These developments are expected to further enhance connectivity and drive continued growth in the second half of the year.

Ms Considine said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e proud to see such strong growth in the first half of 2025. These results are a testament to the hard work of our team and our ongoing investment in infrastructure, sustainability, route development and our focus on customer excellence. Shannon Airport continues to deliver for the region and for Ireland.鈥

To support this growth, the Group recently completed the addition of 1,000 new car parking spaces, a timely enhancement ahead of the busy summer season. This is part of a wider 鈧30 million investment programme across Shannon Airport and the Shannon Airport Business Park.
