All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party has expressed its desire to join the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar ahead of the 2025 assembly elections in a letter to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
The letter from AIMIM鈥檚 Bihar state president and MLA Akhtarul Iman to Yadav highlights AIMIM鈥檚 intention to join the grand alliance to prevent the division of secular votes in the elections and to counter communal forces.
鈥淔rom the very beginning, the party has tried to ensure that secular votes do not get divided during elections. It cannot be denied that the division of secular votes gives communal forces a chance to come to power. With this objective, during the last assembly and Lok Sabha elections, we expressed our willingness to join the Mahagathbandhan, but our efforts did not succeed,鈥 said the letter in Hindi.

It further adds, 鈥淣ow, with the 2025 assembly elections ahead of us, we once again request that the AIMIM party be included in the Mahagathbandhan. Our party has already passed a resolution unanimously in this regard.鈥
AIMIM, in the letter, also mentioned that the party has conveyed this to other senior leaders of RJD, including the former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly.
The letter concluded with a hope to 鈥渃ontest the Bihar assembly elections together.鈥
鈥淭his will help both you and us in preventing the split of secular votes, and a strong Bihar and future government will be formed by the Mahagathbandhan. I hope you will take a positive decision on this proposal and kindly inform us at the earliest,鈥 it concludes.
