Delhi University Explains Exit Option After 3rd Year

The University of Delhi is currently hosting its first batch of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP). For the first time, the FYUP batch will be entering their final year in July 2025, and as per reports several students are already dropping out of their courses alleging lack of infrastructure. Since the reports started surfacing, Delhi University has now issued clear instructions on how students can exit after the completion of their third year. DU explained that the students who have enrolled in the 4-year Under-graduate Curriculum Framework 2022 based on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and have successfully completed six semesters (3 years) are eligible to submit their intent to exit the programme with a 3-year degree for multi-core discipline programmes and Honours degree for single core discipline programmes, as applicable. Students interested in availing the above option can login to the University’s Student portal at the official website — slc.uod.ac.in. Students have to submit their intent through the designated online process through this link. Students will have to key in their username and password to login to their candidate’s login. “The University encourages eligible students to carefully evaluate their academic and career goals before making this decision and recommends consulting with their teachers and mentors to ensure informed decision-making. This initiative aligns with the NEP 2020’s emphasis on providing multiple entry and exit points in higher education, offering students enhanced autonomy over their educational pathways,” DU stated in an official notification. The Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) is beneficial for those students who are eyeing opportunities abroad, particularly in research-heavy institutions.
