Primary School Teacher Suspended for Drunken Behavior on Duty in Ntchisi

Information reaching this publication confirms that Ntchisi County Council has suspended Rhodrick Jana, a teacher at Katete Primary School, for misconduct related to drunken behavior while on duty.

The suspension follows a viral video circulating on social media showing pupils following Jana to a bar, where he allegedly attempted to conduct lessons while intoxicated.

County Council spokesperson James Mwale confirmed the incident and stated that Jana had previously received multiple warning letters over similar conduct but failed to change his behavior.

Jana is expected to appear before the county education office on July 4, 2025, to answer charges related to his alleged alcohol abuse during working hours.

Mwale emphasized that the council takes issues of professional misconduct seriously and will take appropriate disciplinary action based on the outcome of the hearing.
