Rylan Clark says 'it doesn't work' as he makes major relationship realisation

Rylan Clark joked 鈥渋t doesn鈥檛 work鈥 as he opened up about looking for love and a major realisation he has had about relationships. The 36-year-old has recently begun his search for Mr Right after his split from ex-husband Dan Neal. Former X Factor contestant Rylan and Big Brother star Dan married in 2015. But the pair split in 2021 after Rylan confessed he had been unfaithful earlier in their relationship. Rylan believed Dan would 鈥渦nderstand鈥 but he reacted the 鈥渆xact opposite鈥. The split led to Rylan taking four months away from his broadcasting career. Now, three years on, the BBC Radio 2 star has launched a new podcast, How to be in Love, as he looks for his future partner. During a conversation with former adult star Rebecca More, Rylan came to a realisation about his search for love. He said: 鈥淚鈥檝e really got to be comfortable with myself and I鈥檝e really got to love myself before I let anyone else love me.鈥 Mum-of-two Rebecca revealed she has also had a recent revelation about love. She said: 鈥淚鈥檓 still on my journey as well. When I decided I want to look for love, I was like, 鈥楻ight, I鈥檓 looking for it, I鈥檓 going to treat it like a business鈥.鈥 Rylan interjected: 鈥淚t doesn’t work. It doesn’t work.鈥 Before Rebecca continued: 鈥淟et it go, it鈥檚 not down to you, it鈥檚 going to show up when you least expect it.鈥 Rylan replied: 鈥淚 f***ing hate it when people say that.鈥 Rylan recently won a BATFA for his travel show with Robert Rinder. Rob and Rylan鈥檚 Grand Tour saw the pair opening up to each other about how they dealt with their respective divorces – Rob split from his ex-husband in 2018. Former Big Brother host Rylan said the show was “like therapy”, confessing he “wasn’t fully over” his break up. It sparked whispers about a potential romance between the two, but Rylan recently clarified that they are “just friends”. After winning the BATFA, he said: 鈥淔or me, the show, it happened at a really weird time for me like I still wasn’t fully over sort of the breakdown of my marriage and was flung with the judge. It was the best therapy I needed, put it that way.” Rylan continued: “I think the journey, and I hate that word in telly but it’s so true, when you watch our series, that journey from when we meet to sort of how raw, especially I was at that time.” Rylan rose to fame when he appeared on the X Factor in 2012, making it to the live competition. Just weeks after being booted off the show, he was whisked into Celebrity Big Brother, winning the contest. He has since become a regular on shows such as This Morning and Gogglebox. He joined BBC Radio 2 in 2018, becoming a permanent presenter the following year.
