As Bollywood struggles with increasing production costs and underperforming films, one ongoing debate is the rising prices as a result of stars鈥 massive entourages. From personal chefs to stylists, these support groups regularly add to a movie鈥檚 budget. But actor Puneet Issar today shared a special take when recalling his experience working with Sunny Deol.
During a communication with Siddharth Kannan, Puneet remembered taking pictures of Border (1997) and stated Sunny has usually travelled in fashion, however not at the production rate. 鈥淪unny raja aadmi hai. Woh jahan jaata hai raja ki tarah jata hai. Uska pura entourage chalta hai. Uske cooks bhi aayenge, badminton ka court bhi hoga, pura health club jayega.鈥

Puneet stated that Sunny even went the extra mile to address others. 鈥淗e will ask you that I am travel with all of this weight, if there鈥檚 something which you also want to hold so he can load it up as well.鈥 He said, 鈥淪unny is like king, like an emperor. That鈥檚 the way Sunny Deol is.鈥
When asked if today鈥檚 large entourages affects film budgets, Puneet stated that matters have been extraordinary earlier. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 expect Sunny could put the bill at the producer. That鈥檚 why I said, he鈥檚 a king. Even Salman is like that. It鈥檚 a requirement, it鈥檚 a need to for them, they want it, they should workout.鈥
Lavish Entourage: Gym, Cooks, and a Badminton Court
He talked about how having an entourage isn鈥檛 new, bringing up stars from the golden generation of Bollywood. 鈥淩ajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Dilip Kumar include Sunny Deol 鈥溾攁ll of them had their people with them on set.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has an extra view of today鈥檚 spending patterns. In a preceding interview with Humans of Cinema, he said that a significant amount of cash is wasted on things that don鈥檛 enhance the film itself.
