The NFL Top 100 Series, a curated show that reveals the top 100 NFL players, each chosen by their fellow peers, will now be available to stream on the social media platform X instead of regular broadcasting. X Originals announced in a social media post captioned, 鈥淭he NFL and X announced today the launch of NFL Top 100, a digitally reimagined version of the NFL Films countdown franchise, premiering Monday, June 30 as a first-of-its-kind X Originals series”. Delivering content where a sizable user base already exists is largely responsible for the recent shift in streaming strategy. 鈥淔or 14 seasons, NFL Top 100 has delivered the ultimate peer-ranked countdown in sports. This year, we鈥檙e bringing it to where fans already are 鈥 on X 鈥 with a fast-paced format that honours the original series,鈥 said Ross Ketover, NFL Films senior executive, in the official statement NFL-affiliated accounts already have more than 50 million followers on the platform, which saw 6 million postings from 1 million authors in the 2025 season. The goal of the change is to “thrive and fuel year-round conversation” in a medium that already has the required dialogue. 鈥淒elivering original content experiences with world-class partners, especially around sports, is a top priority for X. We are excited to work with the NFL and NFL Films to launch our first original series together, and reinvent a classic for a digital-first audience,” said Mitchell Smith, Head of Original Content at X. The platform will start revealing the names of two new players every day on June 30. On X and NFL+, episodes will premiere on weekdays at 10 and 11 a.m. ET. The final Top 10 players will be announced on the September 1 finale broadcast, and this trend will continue until August 29. At 8 PM ET, the NFL Network will carry the finale live. 鈥淭his marks the 15th consecutive year that current NFL players have voted to determine the top 100. The 2025 edition embraces a short-form, digital-first format designed for today鈥檚 fans 鈥 blending NFL Films鈥 signature storytelling with exclusive footage, commentary, and a social-native viewing experience,鈥 the post added. Ladd McConkey, a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Chargers, now has the 100th position, while Leonard Williams, a defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks, holds the 99th position.
