Brits heading to popular holiday destinations including Spain and Italy in July have been warned about potential disruption to flights. A series of air traffic control and airport worker strikes are planned for this month, which could spark major delays and cancellations. Brits with holidays booked to places like Spain, Italy and France are being urged to bear this in mind and check ahead for any disruption. Meanwhile, major disruption is expected in France. And this might not only affect those planning to France, as flights heading over French airspace could be impacted. There could also be a knock-on from other disrupted flights. A national air traffic control strike is planned for July 3 and 4. It’s reported 50% of flights cancelled or rerouted from airports including Paris-Orly, Marseille, Nice and Toulouse. While in the Netherlands, KLM ground crews have threatened to strike on on July 9 over pay. Jessie Chambers, senior travel advisor at Global Work and Travel, said: “Even if you鈥檙e not flying into France, your flight might pass through French airspace. “We鈥檝e already seen major airlines forced to cancel or reroute hundreds of flights. “Travellers need to act fast – check flights, speak to airlines, and prepare for delays.鈥 He continued: “This kind of strike disruption is more than a delay 鈥 it can snowball into missed connections, rebooked accommodation, or even visa complications. “It鈥檚 vital people don鈥檛 assume they鈥檙e unaffected just because their flight doesn鈥檛 land in a strike zone. 鈥淲e鈥檙e seeing the consequences of a fragmented European airspace.”
