One of Ayrshire鈥檚 oldest veterinary practices is preparing for an exciting new chapter thanks to a 拢800,000 refurbishment. Collier and Brock Vets in Troon has been completely revamped to create a more spacious and modern practice equipped with the latest technology to meet demand for high-quality care of pets. The revamp has seen the practice double its numbedr of consultation rooms, which allows it to offer more appointments as well as creating an increased capacity for surgical procedures by creating an extra operating theatre. The building in Portland Street, which opened 40 years ago, had become tired and worn, and the new-look practice will boast: four consult rooms, two operating theatres, dedicated dental suite with X-ray facilities, in-house laboratory, separate wards for cats and dogs as well as a cat-only consult room, and a dedicated ultrasound suite. The practice has also created a bereavement room to provide a calm, quiet and less clinical space for grieving owners and their pets at the end of their life, with a rear exit for privacy. The 拢800,000 revamp is being funded by VetPartners, a veterinary group of some of the UK and Europe鈥檚 most respected and trusted small animal, equine, mixed and farm practices and animal healthcare companies, including Collier and Brock Vets. Since October 2024, the practice has been using a temporary cabin, while more complex procedures and emergency treatment was carried out at Collier and Brock Vets鈥 other branch in Irvine. Clinical Director Mara Artuffo Binning said: 鈥淲e wanted to create a practice with the best facilities to provide the best possible care of our patients and an excellent service to clients. 鈥淭his is really important to our clinical team and having great facilities makes a big difference. Before the redevelopment of the practice, we were very limited, but we have carefully planned how we wanted in the new practice so we can create the best experience for clients and their pets. 鈥淥ur wonderful team is fully committed to develop our practice embracing Zero Pain, Fear Free and Cat Friendly principles when caring for our patients, and we are all excited to be working a lovely practice.鈥 Practice manager Elizabeth Frew added: 鈥淲e have been at this site since the 1980s and this is the first major work so it鈥檚 a really exciting time. 鈥淲e simply outgrew the practice as demand has grown, and the work has created much more space. Having two operating theatres and four consult rooms will allow us to see more patients and carry out more procedures every day, so we鈥檒l have better availability.鈥 Don’t miss the latest Ayrshire headlines 鈥 sign up to our free daily newsletter
