Travel between Jaipur and Delhi will soon get faster with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opening a new 65-km road section between Bagrana and Bandikui on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. According to a TOI report, the new stretch will open for trial traffic in July and will be formally inaugurated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) soon.Direct access from Jaipur to expresswayThe new link connects Bagrana, located near Jaipur city, to Bandikui. This will give Jaipur commuters direct access to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway without needing to take the longer route through Dausa on the Jaipur-Agra highway. Those coming from Rotary Circle or Ring Road can now use the cloverleaf ramp and slip lane at Bagrana to enter the expressway directly.Travel time could drop by over an hourWith the new access point, the drive to the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyway is expected to take around 2.5 hours. Factoring in traffic to New Delhi Railway Station or IGI Airport, the total journey from Jaipur to Delhi could take about 3 to 3.5 hours, compared to the usual 4.5 hours.Interchanges added for better connectivityThe new stretch includes four interchanges at Bhedoli, Khurikurd, Sundarpura, and Geela ki Nangal. These are designed to improve road access for nearby villages and ease congestion. Currently, travellers use the Bandhrej exit in Dausa and take the Jaipur-Agra highway, which is often crowded. The new link is expected to reduce traffic on that older route and help commuters save time.Live EventsFinal audit underway before trial runNHAI regional officer Pradeep Atri said, 鈥淭he Bandikui-Jaipur section is undergoing a final safety audit, after which remedial measures, if required, will be taken.鈥 Once approved, the route will be opened for trial use.Expressway built in 2.5 yearsNHAI project manager Pushpendra Singh said the spur from Jaipur to the expressway was completed in 2.5 years. 鈥淭he design includes paved shoulders, full access control, and an efficient interchange system that links seamlessly to the main Delhi-Mumbai Expressway,鈥 he said.NHAI is also working on a greenfield expressway to connect Jaipur with the Delhi-Agra highway. Once completed, it will further boost road connectivity in the region. For now, with the upcoming opening of the Bagrana-Bandikui stretch, travelers can expect shorter and smoother trips between Jaipur and Delhi.(You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel)
