Jet2 has issued a warning over planned strike action in France over the next two days. The airline published an update following the news Air Traffic Control (ATC) in the country are set to demonstrate today (July 3) and tomorrow (July 4). It comes after a period of tension for ATC workers part of the ICNA and CGT unions, who have been in talks with France’s Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) over workers’ concerns about under-staffing, toxic atmospheres, and the failure of several projects, The Connexion said. After discussions ultimately broke down between both parties, industrial action was announced at the peak of the summer season for many in Europe. Jet2 addressed concerns from passengers in a statement on its website: “French Air Traffic Control Strike Action on 3rd – 5th July 2025. READ MORE: UK tourists issued Foreign Office warning over ‘flight disruption’ as strikes kick off in holiday hotspot “We wanted to let you know about strike action, supported by French Air Traffic Control taking place on the 3rd-5th July 2025, which may cause delays to flights travelling through French airspace. “Rest assured, we’ll try to keep any disruption to a minimum. Check-in will close 40 minutes before your scheduled departure (Agadir & Marrakech will close 60 minutes before your scheduled departure), so please arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure. “We will be working hard to ensure that the impact on our flights is minimal, however, you may encounter some disruption if you are travelling during this time. “Please be prepared for possible longer than normal waits onboard your aircraft to depart. We will board all flights and close all gates for an on-time departure, this will allow us to depart as soon as we are advised we can. “Please make sure your contact details are up to date in Manage My Booking, and if the situation changes, our team will be in touch. “For up-to-date information, please continue to check this web page.” Jet2 is not the only airline which has been forced to issue an update on the ongoing ATC situation, as Ryanair has also been forced to axe 170 flights over the course of the next two days. The Irish carrier expressed how the cancellations would not only impact flights to and from France, but could affect other journeys travelling through French airspace. READ MORE: Ryanair cancels 170 flights as UK tourists warned over holiday chaos A spokesperson said: “In addition to flights to/from France being cancelled, this strike will also affect all French overflights.” Previously, the DGAC asked airlines to cut the number of flights over the next two days, as airport capacity was ultimately forced to be reduced due to strikes. The agency request the number of journeys to and from Paris’ airports to be cut by 25 per cent on July 3, in addition to requesting flights from Nice, Bastia and Calvi to be reduced by 50 per cent. Flights to and from Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Ajaccio and Figari were also said to have been advised to be cut by 30 per cent, Reuters reported.
