Coronation Street fans were left ‘obsessed’ as a fan-favourite was finally seen back on screen, but they did jokingly scold her for ‘slander’ in the process. Back in early June, fans were thrilled to have confirmation that Sally Ann Matthews was back at the Trafford-based set, filming for the ITV soap in the role of Jenny Connor. At the time, Tina O’Brien, who is famed for playing Weatherfield’s Sarah Platt, was among the first to share the photo, in which she could be seen relaxing on a sofa in the set’s green room alongside a number of her co-stars, including Sally. Also featured in the image were Tony Maudsley (George Shuttleworth), Julia Goulding (Shona Platt), Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), Alison King (Carla Connor), Gareth Pierce (Todd Grimshaw) and Jodie Prenger (Glenda Shuttleworth). While it’s not been officially confirmed by the ITV soap, viewers are sure that Carla Connor and DS Lisa Swain are set to move into No.6 Coronation Street, following Yasmeen Nazir’s exit earlier this year. But in the latest episode, Ronnie Bailey and Debbie Webster had put an offer on the house, having recently reconciled after Debbie came clean about her heartbreaking dementia diagnosis. Ronnie said: “We put another offer in on Number 6, and the estate agent has just confirmed receipt.” A cautious Kevin replied: “Congratulations – as long as Yasmeen accepts.” And Jenny Connor also waded in on the conversation, telling Ronnie: “I hope you get it – that would really grind Carla’s face into the dirt!” She was also seen hanging out in the Rovers Return, which she is no longer the landlady of after Carla Connor made a decision to sell, and has since put Glenda Shuttleworth in the role of manager. But it’s fair to say Corrie fans were thrilled to see her back – but also jokingly shared their dismay at her comments about Carla. Alongside a picture of Jenny, @ConversationStr said: “Who missed this woman on our screens? YOU DID NO, YOU DID We all did!” @CheshireOne replied: “Hallelujah, knives out for Carla and later in the Rovers still ruling the roost from the other side of the bar.” @ThomasR14336083 shared: “Loved seeing Jenny just randomly rooming between the cafe and the Rovers, seeing as there’s no Kabin for her to work in. More of her please Corrie.” @danielsbian wrote: “JENNY!!!! missed you my love #corrie.” @jeffnewton1 posted: “#Corrie Nice to see Jenny back. Haven’t seen much of her since Daisy left 2 months ago.” @PinkWelshGirl11 commented: “A big YESSS to having the icon that is @SallyAnMatthews back on my TV Screen tonight. A big fat NO though to Jenny slating Carla. Nobody slates the queen of the cobbles! (Or should i say King)! Jenny was funny in the rovers though so i can’t be too mad xxx #Corrie.” .@swoosh286 shared: “Carla should be the one holding the grudge! Honestly, is she serious?! £250k ring any bells Jenny!!! #corrie.” @daisysmidgeley typed: “jenny just lurking around in roy’s and the rovers, kinda obsessed.” @swarlanations added: “Not Carla Connor slander on my telly by Jennifer! #Corrie.” Join our Coronation Street WhatsApp group HERE
