Big Akwes apologises to Cina Soul

Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Big Akwes has apologised to singer Cina Soul after making disturbing comments about her during an appearance on Bryt TV that sparked public outrage.

The incident happened during a segment on Bryt TV where Big Akwes took part in a game called 鈥淜iss, Marry, Kill.鈥 When asked to choose between actress Vivian Jill and singer Cina Soul, he said he would marry Vivian Jill. However, what followed shocked viewers.

Big Akwes graphically stated that he would 鈥渒ill Cina Soul,鈥 going as far as to describe how he would use a magic mirror to summon her, stab her with a knife, and drink her blood. Many people who watched the video found his words violent and troubling.

On July 1, 2025, Cina Soul reacted to the video on social media. She stated that she felt threatened by Big Akwes鈥 comments and tagged the Ghana Police Service and the Minister of Communication, asking them to look into the matter.

Her post went viral, and netizens criticised both Big Akwes and Bryt TV for allowing such language to be aired.

In response to the backlash, Bryt TV invited Big Akwes back on air to clarify his comments. During the follow-up appearance, Big Akwes said he never meant any harm and insisted that his words were only meant to entertain.

鈥淭his was meant purely for entertainment purposes; I never intended to actually harm her. I even learned that her mother was scared by what I said, and for that, I鈥檓 truly sorry. Mummy, please don鈥檛 let this weigh on your heart. If my words made you believe that I would harm Cina Soul, that was not my intention at all. It was just for entertainment. I sincerely apologize if my comments caused panic for Cina Soul, her family, close friends, or anyone connected to her. I have no malicious intentions toward her,鈥 Big Akwes said.

Bryt TV also issued an apology in the caption of the video they posted about Big Akwes鈥 apology. They acknowledged the public鈥檚 concerns and apologised to both Cina Soul and their viewers.
