Vehicle checks carried out in Cradley Heath in response to public concern

Police stopped scores of vehicles acting on public concerns during a road safety operation in Cradley Heath.

The targeted activity was carried out along Barrs Road on Tuesday,

West Midlands Police’s Rowley neighbourhood team were joined by officers from the Road Harm Prevention Team as more than 25 vehicles were pulled over.

It led to a number traffic offences being reported which included speeding, having tinted windows, illegal number plates, not wearing a seatbelt and carrying an excessive load. One vehicle with incorrect documentation was also seized.

The operation was in response to concerns from the community and formed part of #Safer6 activity in the area this week.

Sergeant Paul Chambers, from the Rowley team, said: “We’re always listening and taking action to tackle issues which matter to you. The safety of our communities is our number one priority.”

The #Safer6 campaign is in Rowley Regis this week. We’re working with partners including Sandwell Council to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour, and deal with other issues we know that matter to residents #SaferSandwell.
