Whenever there is a large-scale concert at Villa Park , it inevitably leads to road closures around the stadium. However, this is normally just on the day of the event. But, for the Black Sabbath’s farewell gig Back to the Beginning, road closures are scheduled to be implemented the day before to cope with the huge volumes of people and infrastructure involved in the day-long show. Billed as the ‘ Birmingham Super Weekend ‘, 200,000 people are expected to descend upon the city for various events. The key is to be prepared so that you’re still able to get in and around the area on Saturday July 5. Unlike most concerts at this venue, which start in the evening, the gates to this major event will open at 11am. This is so that organisers can cram in almost 12 hours of entertainment with multiple rock bands appearing throughout the day. Transport for West Midlands has announced that it will start the closures at 8pm on Friday, July 4 and will remain in place until around midnight on Saturday, July 5. Trinity Road will be closed between the junctions with Witton Lane and Nelson Road. Then Witton Lane will be shut from Witton Island to Trinity Road.
