A woman Sub-Inspector and her husband, also of the same rank in the Puducherry Police department have been booked by the Vigilance and Anti Corruption unit of the territorial police on alleged charges of demanding bribe for following up a girl missing complaint filed in Villianur police station a few weeks ago.
The case has been registered against Sub Inspectors Saranya and Prabu, under the Prevention of Corruption Act, following a complaint filed by the girl’s father on the inaction of Saranya, while she was serving in Villianur police station.
Saranya had demanded ₹5,000 for travel-related expenses in tracing the complainant’s daughter. A communication has been sent to the Police Headquarters detailing the charges registered against the duo for initiating disciplinary action.
