CMC inaugurates Param Shavak supercomputer at Ranipet campus

The Christian Medical College (CMC) inaugurated PARAM Shavak Supercomputer at the Department of Radiation Oncology at its new campus in Ranipet on Wednesday to enhance computational capabilities for medical research.

According to a press release, the supercomputer is the collaborative effort between the Quantitative Imaging Research and Artificial Intelligence Lab (QIRAIL) and the Biomedical Informatics Unit (BMIU).

The need for collaborative work between physicians, physicists, and computational scientists was stressed, leading to benefits in health care, patient care, education, and ultimately enhancing research in artificial intelligence in healthcare.

A technical demonstration of the PARAM Shavak Supercomputer and cutting-edge features and capabilities was given by C.V. Deepu, associate director, C-DAC Pune. It was followed by a live demonstration of its use in radiotherapy by Hannah Mary Thomas, scientist, QIRAIL, the release said.
