Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Chhatarpur witnessed heavy rains on Tuesday. The water came gushing from the hills and entered the famous Jatashankar Temple, drenching the Shivlinga. Mesmerised by the scene, devotees called it a ‘Jal Abhishek’ by the nature itself, where gods of rains themselves descended the earth to pay reverence to Lord Shiva.

Many visitors enjoyed the rare sight and captured it on their phones.

According to devotees, the water flowing down the temple steps seemed like a waterfall, submerging parts of the complex. However, it directly reached Lord Shiva’s idol and poured over the Shivling.

Rain affects daily life

However, the rain also disrupted movement in the region.

The Urmil River near the district headquarters overflowed at the low-lying ripta crossing between Chhatarpur and Deri, making it unsafe to travel. Water levels reached about 1.5 feet, cutting off the route for many devotees who were planning to visit the nearby sacred site, KudanTal Dham.

The local administration has urged people to stay alert and avoid risky travel near rivers and flooded areas.
