Mel B excludes two Spice Girls from her wedding guest list amid ongoing drama

Sources have claimed Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell will not be attending Melanie Brown’s wedding this Saturday. The fashion designer and former Spice Girl are both absent from the guest list for Mel B’s ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral, where she will marry fianc茅 Rory McPhee in a star-studded event. There is also speculation that Emma Bunton or Melanie Chisholm may also skip the occasion. A source revealed that Victoria, known as “Posh Spice,” won’t be able to attend due to pre-existing travel commitments: “Victoria has long-standing commitments abroad and simply can鈥檛 attend. She adores Mel, and despite their different career paths, they get along well. It鈥檚 unfortunate but there鈥檚 no bad blood. It鈥檚 just one of those things.” However, Geri’s absence stems from a more complicated history. She and Mel have had a turbulent relationship and have often struggled to be in the same room without tension, the Mirror reports. Their relationship strain deepened when Mel B revealed during an interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories that she had a secret romantic encounter with Geri when the band first started – a revelation which deeply upset Geri. Mel reportedly never apologised and the revelation caused embarrassment for Geri’s husband, Christian Horner, who was said to be “mortified” by the claims. This follows the fact that neither Victoria nor Geri attended Mel’s 50th birthday celebrations in Leeds this May, with only Emma and Mel C in attendance. Mel’s upcoming wedding will be her third marriage. Her first was in 1998 to Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar, where she made a bold statement wearing a flamboyant Vegas showgirl feather headdress paired with a white and gold dress. In 2007, she married Stephen Belafonte in a Las Vegas ceremony and renewed their vows a year later in Egypt. The couple separated in 2016. Following her split from husband Stephen, Mel became close to Rory McPhee, whom she described last year as “a family friend, great hairdresser… when I went back to England, he would come over and give me hair treatments… And as he was nurturing my curls back, I guess he was nurturing my trust and belief in a relationship.” The couple are able to tie the knot at St Paul鈥檚 Cathedral thanks to her OBE which she was awarded in 2022 for her charitable work supporting vulnerable women, particularly through Women’s Aid. Ahead of her wedding, Mel celebrated with an all out hen party in Tunisia, with her daughter Phoenix and 35 other friends. The hen was filled with sun-soaked activities, leopard-print bikinis, belly dancing classes and a “Zen party.” Join the Daily Record’s WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages.
