The US State Department revised its travel advisory for Israel, lowering the warning level while still urging Americans to exercise heightened caution amid continued threats of terrorism and civil unrest. The move comes in the shadow of growing regional instability and a newly issued fatwa by a senior Iranian cleric against US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
US Travel Advisory For Israel
The US placed Israel and the West Bank under a Level 3: Reconsider Travel advisory, down from the previous Level 4: Do Not Travel designation issued on June 16, though officials warned that threats remain severe and unpredictable.
“Terrorist groups, lone-actor terrorists and other violent extremists continue plotting possible attacks in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza,” the advisory said, adding, “Attacks may occur with little or no warning, targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls and local government facilities.”
The advisory also warned that violence may erupt without warning due to the region’s “unstable and complex security environment.” In addition, the US State Department cautioned that commercial flights into and out of Israel could be reduced or canceled as tensions rise.
Donald Trump Pushes Ceasefire Deal In Gaza
Donald Trump announced that Israel has accepted a US-backed 60-day ceasefire proposal for Gaza, which is set to be presented to Hamas by mediators from Egypt and Qatar. The US President wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, “During this time, we will work with all parties to end the War. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better- IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.”
Donald Trump also confirmed that he will meet with Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House to discuss the proposal and explore broader diplomatic efforts as he remains “hopeful” that Hamas and Israel could finalize a ceasefire-for-hostages agreement within the week.
