An easyJet flight turned around mid-air just an hour after leaving a UK airport due to a ‘passenger issue’. It was understood the plane flew eastwards over Sheffield and Norfolk before returning to Manchester. EasyJet later confirmed to customers the flight had been diverted due to a ‘passenger welfare issue’. The airline said the disruption was ‘out of its control’ and was considered ‘an extraordinary circumstance’, Manchester Evening News reports. An update on the easyJet website indicated the flight was grounded overnight. It was understood that plans were being made for another service to run on Tuesday, July 1. Further details about the nature of the incident on board were not confirmed. An update at 9pm read: “We’re sorry your flight has been delayed overnight. “This is due to a passenger welfare issue. “We are working hard to arrange your new flight for tomorrow. “Once again, we’re very sorry for the disruption to your travel plans.” EasyJet has been contacted for a comment.
