Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s Game Changer was one of the most anticipated projects, but the film’s fate left the entire movie industry in a state of shock. In a recent interaction, the film’s producer, Shirish, who is also Dil Raju’s brother, opened up about the big-budget movie’s box office failure, its aftermath, and the impact it had on them.
In an interview with Great Andhra, Shirish spoke about the uncertainty that people in the showbiz industry live with. While discussing films like Sankranthiki Vasthunam and Game Changer, which were released just days apart, he shared, “Everyone knows how risky the cinema business is. For example, look at Sankranthiki Vasthunam and Game Changer. With Game Changer, we thought our lives were over. We got hope from Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Our lives changed within four days. If we didn’t have that, think of our situation now.”
He further opened up about how no one reached out to them after the debacle of the high-budget movie. “When Game Changer flopped, did the hero come and help us? Did the director come and help us? No one even asked us how we were doing, even out of courtesy. I am not blaming anyone, because we made the film out of our own wish, and we faced the losses. We have not come down to the stage of asking back remuneration,” he said.
While Game Changer met an ill fate and left them with regret over not delivering a blockbuster with Ram Charan, Shirish is now planning a new film with the actor. He stated, “We had a setback this year with Game Changer, and we feel guilty about not making a superhit with Ram Charan. We are trying to make a hit film with him now. I will hopefully announce it soon.”
Game Changer was the biggest box office failure of the year. According to Sacnilk.com, the film grossed Rs 131.1 crore in India and approximately ₹186.2 crore globally.
Meanwhile, Ram Charan is set to star in director Buchi Babu Sana’s upcoming film, tentatively titled RC16, alongside Janhvi Kapoor. Kiara Advani, on the other hand, will appear in War 2, alongside Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
