The Chase star Shaun Wallace reveals new venture as he moves away from ITV show

The Chase star Shaun Wallace has revealed a new venture as he steps away from the ITV show. Shaun, who has been a Chaser on the much loved quiz show since 2009, announced the news on social media – leaving fans shocked. Shaun, otherwise known as The Dark Destroyer, told fans he was “very excited” to be filming for a new show called The Great Escapers. In a video posted on X, formally known as Twitter, the 65-year-old described the project as “a wonderful, exciting holiday adventure.” The post stated: “Very excited to be filming in Rhodes for a new show called ‘The Great Escapers’ with Mark @ MarkLabbett and Jenny @jenlion. Looking forward to having a lot of fun with those two. Doing a spot of fitness in the sunshine, before we get going.” Mark Labbett, known as The Beast, and Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan are also chasers on the ITV quiz show. However, it is understood that neither Shaun, Mark or Jenny are leaving The Chase, with many ITV regulars often appearing on other shows, the Mirror reports. The quiz genius, who is also a barrister, shared the news with his 89,000 followers as they rushed to the comments. One fan gushed: “Have a swell time,” while another wrote: “Hope you win your episode, Shaun!” The Great Escapers is a new ITV show where celebrities from shows like Coronation Street, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here and Loose Women go on holiday together, competing to plan the best day out. Speaking about the show, Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment and Daytime ITV said: “We’ve got some of ITV’s best-known faces flying out to the most gorgeous destinations in this brand-new series. We can’t wait to see the cast of Corrie, I’m A Celeb…, The Chase and Loose Women in all of their holiday glory!” The new show is in partnership with Jet2, one of the UK’s largest holiday operators. The series will air on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player later this year. Shaun is one of the original ‘Chasers’ on the teatime show, alongside Mark. The pair have both appeared in each of the 18 regular series, and 14 celebrity series. The Chase first graced our screens in 2009 and swiftly became a staple on ITV. It features regular contestants attempting to ‘beat’ the Chaser, testing their general knowledge for the chance to bag a large cash prize.
