Keith Urban left two Adelaide radio hosts in shock when he hung up on them live on air after they asked an intimate question about his wife, Nicole Kidman.
The country music star called into Mix 102.3鈥檚 Hayley & Max in the Morning on Tuesday, ahead of the Aussie leg of his High and Alive world tour next month, when the line suddenly went dead.
Urban was in good spirits at the start of the interview as he expressed his excitement to play at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on August 28 because it鈥檚 鈥渏ust a good vibe in the audience,鈥 he said.
But the interview went downhill when hosts Hayley Pearson and Max Burford asked him to take part in the show鈥檚 鈥淲all of Truth鈥 segment.
Although Urban was a willing participant, it seems he didn鈥檛 expect the questions to be so personal.
鈥淲hat does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?鈥 Burford asked before the line grew silent.
鈥淲hat just happened here?鈥 he asked as a producer said, 鈥淗e鈥檚 disconnected from Zoom.鈥
鈥淚 think his team hung up on us because they didn鈥檛 want us to ask that question,鈥 the producer added. 鈥淗e鈥檚 gone, see you Keith.鈥
Pearson was rattled that they鈥檝e 鈥渦pset鈥 the Grammy winner and had a feeling 鈥渢hat would happen.鈥
鈥淒oes Keith Urban hate us? Do we have beef with Keith Urban now?鈥 Burford wondered before telling her, 鈥淚f you knew this was going to happen, Hayley, why didn鈥檛 you stop me asking the question?鈥
It鈥檚 no secret that Urban doesn鈥檛 like talking about his famous wife.
Last September, the singer was invited on the 鈥淛am Nation with Jonesy & Amanda鈥 podcast to chat about his new album High and upcoming world tour, when the chat focused on Kidman being at the Venice Film Festival.
Host Amanda Keller then began asking questions about the origins of Urban鈥檚 relationship with the Aussie actress.
鈥淪peaking of your amazing love story with Nicole, you met at G鈥檇ay Australia. Is that what it was called?鈥 she asked Urban, to which he bluntly corrected her: 鈥淕鈥檇ay LA.鈥
Keller suggested that if the pair hadn鈥檛 met that fateful night, they perhaps might never have met at all.
鈥淚f you hadn鈥檛 both been there that day, would your paths somewhere have inevitably crossed? Or maybe 鈥 this incredible love story wouldn鈥檛 have happened,鈥 she wondered.
鈥淣o, I think it would,鈥 Urban insisted.
鈥淵eah? Are you a believer in fate or do you think it鈥檚 two Australians, it would have happened?鈥 she persisted, with Urban replying, 鈥淣o idea.鈥
The interview became more awkward and Urban appeared to run out of patience.
Clearly done with questions about his wife, Urban shut down the topic with three simple words: 鈥淎nyway, moving on.鈥
