The Students鈥 Union Government (SUG) of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has rejected the renaming of the institution.
They have, therefore, appealed to the Oyo State House of Assembly to reconsider Governor Seyi Makinde鈥檚 last week鈥檚 pronouncement to rename the institution.
The move, which has sparked concern among students, alumni, and stakeholders, is seen as a threat to the institution鈥檚 long-standing heritage and reputation.
In a letter addressed to the House of Assembly and signed by the SUG President, Comrade Oladipupo Olamide, the student body described the decision as harmful to the identity and legacy of the school, which has stood as a beacon of academic excellence for over five decades.
