Countess of Chester Hospital partly evacuated after 'bomb hoax'

Police were called to the Countess of Chester Hospital following a “bomb hoax” this morning, leading to the evacuation of patients and staff.

Emergency services were alerted at approximately 8.56am on Monday (June 30) due to reports of suspicious activity. A section of the hospital was cleared out while armed officers secured the area.

Images captured a significant presence of emergency services at the hospital, including armed police units. The hospital has since been declared safe and is operating as normal, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The force said: “At 8.56am today (Monday 30 June) police were called to the Countess of Chester following a report of suspicious activity.

“A small area of the hospital was evacuated as a precaution.

“Officers attended and arrested a 27-year-old woman on suspicion of communicating false information (bomb hoax).
