Hockey revealed as the most expensive sport for children to play

A new survey indicates UK parents spend an average of 拢443 annually to support their children’s involvement in sporting activities.

Children typically participate in three different sports each year, with football, swimming, and dance emerging as the most popular choices.

Hockey is identified as the most expensive sport, costing parents an average of 拢460 per year, followed by dance and basketball.

The largest expenditures are on lessons and coaching, specialist kit, and footwear, with travel, club memberships, and general equipment also contributing significantly.

Despite nearly two-thirds of parents stating no financial limit on spending, over half report that the cost-of-living crisis has restricted the number of sports their child can try.
