The general public is informed of the following policy on the renewal of driver鈥檚 licenses in the Federation:
1. License Validity and Expiry
a. Drivers鈥 licenses shall be valid for three (3) years from the date of issue.
b. Licenses shall expire on the license holder鈥檚 birth date in the third year of validity.
2. Renewal of Expired Licenses
a. If a driver鈥檚 license is renewed after its expiration date, the validity period of the new license shall commence from the expiration date of the previous license, regardless of the actual date of renewal.
b. Exceptions to subsection (a) above shall be granted only to individuals who provide satisfactory evidence that they were unable to renew the license due to:
i. Incapacitation due to medical or other personal circumstances.
ii. Being out of the Federation for the period during which the license expired.
3. Evidence Required for Exceptions
a. Drivers seeking an exception must provide verifiable documentation to support their claim, such as:
i. A medical certificate or other relevant documents for incapacitation.
ii. Proof of travel (e.g., passport stamps, boarding passes, or airline itineraries) to substantiate absence from the Federation.
