Kapil Sharma’s The Great Indian Kapil Show recently featured a star-studded episode with the full cast of Metro… In Dino. The ensemble—Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and director Anurag Basu—joined the fun, turning it into a must-watch segment full of laughter and camaraderie.
In a playful moment, Kapil praised the chemistry among the actors before teasing Pankaj Tripathi about his romantic scenes. He asked if Tripathi enjoyed finally embracing a love angle in his acting career. Pankaj agreed but quickly clarified his own romantic experience, noting it was limited to his marital love story. He shared, “I don’t know much about romance, as the only person I ever fell in love with is my wife, and I ended up marrying her. I am from Bihar, and our quota of romance is anyways very little. However, I’m happy that I got to marry the person I romanced with.”
Earlier, in a chat with IANS, Pankaj Tripathi had opened up on dating his now-wife Mridula. “In our time, there wasn’t much technology. We didn’t have mobile phones. There was no technology in every hand. When we left the house, the only ‘technology’ we experienced was sitting in a public transport bus,” he had said.
He recalled his younger days when he waited for his future wife Mridula’s call on the landline. “I remember back in my hostel days — at 8 o’clock at night, I used to get a call from her (wife Mridula), from the landline in the canteen. The whole day was spent waiting for that one call at 8 PM,” he said.
Pankaj also recalled how he “used to sit near the telephone booth with our plates. “There was no ringtone or caller ID to indicate it was our call. So, we would wait the whole day, hoping the call would come at 8,” he added.
Pankaj Tripathi will be seen in Metro… In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu, a film that delves into modern relationships, loss, and love.
