District 8 Retains Inter-District Primary School Sports Championship Title

Defending champions District Eight have successfully retained their championship title with an emphatic victory at the recent Inter-District Primary School Sports Meet, held at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.

This meet continues to serve as Saint Lucia鈥檚 premier platform for nurturing young athletic talent.

The 2025 edition showcased the finest student-athletes from across the island鈥檚 eight educational districts, competing fiercely for glory.

For the second consecutive year, District Eight, which includes Fond St. Jacques Primary, Soufriere Infant and Primary, Canaries Infant and Primary, Bouton Combined, and Les Etangs Combined, dominated the competition, amassing a remarkable 354 points.

This was a commanding lead of 121 points over their nearest competitors, District 2, who finished with 233 points. District 5 secured third place with 232 points.

During the post-match awards ceremony on Tuesday, District 8 was presented with EC$10,000 by the competition鈥檚 title sponsor, Jade Mountain / Anse Chastanet Hotel, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.

The event drew key stakeholders, including Sports Director Clivus Jules, Youth and Sports Officer Saralee Williams, and Executive Assistant Manager of Jade Mountain / Anse Chastanet, Peter Jn Paul, alongside physical education teachers, student-athletes, and the Ministry鈥檚 Communications Unit.

In his address, Sports Director Jules emphasized the unwavering commitment of District Eight鈥檚 educators and support staff. He also honoured Nick Troubetzkoy, the founder of Jade Mountain, who passed away in 2024.

鈥淣ick鈥檚 dedication to youth development has left a lasting impact. The support from Jade Mountain / Anse Chastanet is invaluable, and we stand here today because of that commitment,鈥 Jules affirmed.

Representing the resort, Jn Paul highlighted Troubetzkoy鈥檚 pivotal role in this initiative, stating that the hotel鈥檚 mission is closely aligned with empowering the next generation.

鈥淭his contribution of EC$10,000 is more than a mere sponsorship; it embodies a message of encouragement and inspiration,鈥 Jn. Paul declared.

Underscoring the significance of the meet, he asserted :
