SLCA Road Races This Weekend

Sports enthusiasts will not want to miss the St. Lucia Cycling Association’s National Cycling Road Race and Time Trial happening this weekend.

The Time Trial will take place on the Millennium Highway, beginning at the Sol Gas Station near the Ciceron Junction and covering the route to the OKEU roundabout, returning to the Cul De Sac roundabout, and back to the gas station area—a total of 8km per lap.

– Elite and Juniors will tackle 3 laps, totaling 24km.
– U-17 riders will compete in 2 laps, covering 16km.
– U-15 riders will complete 1 lap of 8km.

The Time Trial kicks off at 6:00 AM, followed by the 102km Individual Road Race at 7:00 AM.

This race will consist of 12 laps around the circuit, starting toward the Cul De Sac roundabout before returning to the start line near the Sol gas station for the 12 laps.

Expect the race to last between 2 hours and 45 minutes to 3 hours and 30 minutes, finishing between 9:45 AM and 10:30 AM.

The competition for the 2025 Elite Time Trial Champion will be fierce, with Gillan Moses and Eltus Joseph both vying for the title, while Denver Alphonse aims to defend his Junior Time Trial Championship.

In the road race, Eltus Joseph will defend his title against a determined Gillan Moses, who aims to redeem himself after a crash just 2km from the finish line last year.

Denver Alphonse, last year’s Junior champion, has had a strong season and will be a serious contender in the race.

The Time Trial is scheduled for Saturday while the Road Race will be held on Sunday.
