Kneecap will be returning to Glastonbury this weekend as they perform on the West Holts Stage on Saturday. The Irish hip hop trio from Belfast, Northern Ireland performed at the festival last year on the Woodsies Stage and the Shangri-La Stage. Consisting of Mo Chara, M贸gla铆 Bap and DJ Pr贸va铆 – the stage names of Liam 脫g 脫 hAnnaidh, Naoise 脫 Caireall谩in and J. J. 脫 Dochartaigh, respectively – they group rap in a mixture of English and Irish on a wide range of social issues. Formed in 2017, their best-known tracks include Get Your Brits Out, Better Way To Live, featuring Grian Chatten from Fontaines DC, and 3Cag. Kneecap member Liam Og O hAnnaidh appeared in court on Wednesday, after being charged for allegedly displaying a flag in support of proscribed terrorist organisation Hezbollah while saying 鈥渦p Hamas, up Hezbollah鈥 at a gig in November last year. O hAnnaidh was released on unconditional bail until his next hearing at the same court on August 20. Kneecap will be performing on the West Holts Stage on Saturday, June 28. Their set will start at 16.00 and last for an hour, ending at 17.00, according to the Glastonbury website. They will take to the stage after Bob Vylan, and before acts like Yussef Dayes, Amaarae and West Holts headliner Doechii. Highlights from the five main stages will be shown on the BBC iPlayer, as well as on BBC One and Two at various points over the weekend. Throughout the weekend, fans will be able to watch continuous live streams from the Pyramid, Other, West Holts, Park and Woodsies stages. Glastonbury performers sometimes bring out special guests during their performance, sometimes performing with artists they have collaborated with before or taking the opportunity to team up with someone else on the line up they wouldn’t usually share a stage with. Glasto goers have been taken by surprise with huge stars turning up on the Pyramid Stage plenty of times before. Last year, Coldplay brought on Hollywood legend Michael J Fox for an emotional performance of Fix You, as well as rapper Little Simz, who performed We Pray with the band. In 2023, Elton John brought out four special guests for his set, including The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers. In 2022, Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen joined headliner Paul McCartney, the former Beatle, on stage. While Kneecap has not confirmed that they will bring out any special guests during their performance at Glastonbury, some bands they have toured with and that support them will be at Worthy Farm too, such as English Teacher and Amyl and the Sniffers. Kneecap will support Amyl and the Sniffers – who are playing the Other Stage on Saturday – at Finsbury Park on July 5. And English Teacher – performing on the Park Stage on Friday – will be playing at Wythenshawe Park on August 15 with Kneecap.
