After two consecutive postponements due to inclement weather, organisers of the much-anticipated ExxonMobil U14 Schools Football Tournament have confirmed that all efforts will be made to get the ball rolling today, at the Ministry of Education (MOE) Ground in Carifesta Avenue.
The tournament’s opening day is expected to feature a packed schedule of 26 matches, with both boys’ and girls’ teams competing from across the country. The tournament will commence with a ceremonial march-past at 10:00 hrs, signalling the official kickoff of action-filled day of inter-school rivalry.
Following the opening parade, the first round of matches will begin promptly at 11:00 hrs with three girls’ fixtures: Marian Academy facing Bush Lot Secondary, Abram Zuil taking on Yarrowkabra Secondary, and Bartica Secondary clashing with Christ Church Secondary.
