Landmark Sunbeam Motor Car site in Wolverhampton transformed into luxury apartments for modern city living

The development, which was officially opened on Thursday June 19, has breathed new life into the former Sunbeam Motor Car Company site on Paul Street, Wolverhampton.

The former factory site has been transformed into 186 high-specification apartments, with the project aiming to set a new benchmark for rental living in the region.

The original brickwork, period windows and vaulted interiors have been preserved and restored to keep alive the site鈥檚 heritage while the new apartments feature design-led interiors and premium finishes.

Robbie Hubball, CEO of Paragon Living which specialises in creating exclusive, tailored rental experiences that incorporate contemporary design and world-class amenities, said: 鈥淭his isn鈥檛 just a residential development, it鈥檚 a piece of Wolverhampton鈥檚 legacy brought back to life.

鈥淲e鈥檝e worked hard to ensure Sunbeam honours the city鈥檚 industrial heritage while providing quality spaces that raise the bar for what people expect in the local rental market. It鈥檚 something we鈥檙e incredibly proud of.鈥

Apartments range from stylish studios to spacious one, two and three-bedroom homes with integrated appliances, hotel-grade furnishings, and smart technology 鈥 including the UK鈥檚 first integration of Sky Glass TVs in every apartment, complete with high-speed internet and a premium Sky package.

In addition, the development includes high-end amenities including private gardens and a landscaped internal courtyard, private dining suites, a high-spec co-working lounge, relaxed seating areas, a barista bar, fully equipped gym and studio, and a range of well-decorated lounges and shared spaces.

Apartments are available for rent from 拢850 to 拢1,650 a month and each has a keyless entry system, using SALTO smart locks, allowing secure and remote access via a smartphone.

Residents can manage parcel deliveries and submit maintenance requests via the Kinetic app as well as unlocking exclusive perks including a 10% discount at local artisan coffee roaster Iron & Fire.

The complex is also fitted with state-of-the-art air filtration and climate control systems, ensuring cleaner air and optimal temperatures in every home.

The launch of the Sunbeam development marks a key milestone in the transformation of Wolverhampton鈥檚 Canalside Quarter and according to the developers, it is fast becoming one of the city鈥檚 most desirable addresses.

Robbie Hubball added: 鈥淪unbeam is more than just a development for us, it鈥檚 a statement about what鈥檚 possible in Wolverhampton. We believe the city deserves high-quality homes that respect its past and inspire its future. This is only the beginning.鈥

The development, located just off the Penn Road island, has attracted strong interest from professionals, commuters, and lifestyle renters due to its prime location.

The site was previously known for being home to the Sunbeam Motor Car Company, which manufactured bicycles, motorcycles and motor cars from the late 1800s until the 1950s – with Sir Malcolm Campbell鈥檚 Bluebird Sunbeam car, which set a world speed record in 1924, notably produced at the site.

Lockmakers C E Marshall later occupied the site which was bought by Paragon Living for 拢7.5 million after previous developers QED went into administration in 2018.

The team at Paragon Living are now all set to break ground on their next flagship development combining heritage, design and lifestyle – a 108-apartment scheme in Kent Street in the heart of Birmingham called The Baths.

The Sunbeam apartments are advertised for rent on Rightmove.co.uk.
