Mumbai Ki Baarish To Get Intense: Heavy Rain To Lash, IMD Issues Alert - What to Expect Next Week

Mumbai Weather: As monsoon clouds hover thick over the city, Mumbai woke up to a wet and gloomy Saturday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) sounding a yellow alert for heavy rainfall today, 28 June. The rain, brought on by an active weather system over the Konkan coast, is expected to continue through the weekend and into the early days of July. The IMD forecast shows generally cloudy skies with heavy rain today and again on 30 June and 1 July, both days carrying similar yellow alerts. Thane and Palghar districts are also likely to experience intense spells, with residents urged to take precautions amid poor visibility and potential waterlogging. Mumbai Weather Forecast Sunday, 29 June, may offer a brief respite with only moderate rainfall expected and no official weather warning issued. However, the wet spell returns soon after. The beginning of July continues the trend of cloudy skies and heavy showers, particularly on 1 July, where heavy rainfall has again been predicted. As the week progresses, from 2 to 4 July, the intensity of the rain is likely to reduce with forecasts pointing to moderate to light rain and no weather warnings in place. Temperatures are expected to remain consistent around 30 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels keeping things sticky despite the downpour. With 17 mm of rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours, the city’s familiar rhythm of wet roads, slow-moving traffic, and umbrella-covered footpaths is back in full swing. Residents are advised to plan their travel with buffer time and keep an eye on IMD updates. For now, it’s advisable to keep those raincoats handy and commute with caution, as Mumbai settles into the heart of monsoon season with more rain just around the corner.
