Dehradun Weather: With monsoon clouds gathering momentum, Dehradun is bracing for a stormy week ahead. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate to heavy rainfall for the region starting today, 28 June, and continuing into the first week of July. Today’s forecast warns of thunderstorms with lightning, moderate to heavy rainfall, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph. This turbulent weather is expected to persist over the weekend, with 29 and 30 June also flagged for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The IMD has marked these days with high alert colours, indicating the possibility of impactful weather that may cause disruptions in outdoor plans and minor travel delays. A Damp Start to July As we step into July, Dehradun’s skies will remain heavy with clouds. From 1 to 4 July, residents can expect recurring spells of rain or thundershowers, often accompanied by lightning and strong winds. The forecast highlights consistent yellow and orange alerts, with 1 July under an orange warning for thunderstorms with lightning, and 2 July repeating the earlier pattern of gusty winds and heavy showers. The IMD has cautioned people, especially those venturing outdoors or commuting during peak hours, to remain alert and plan with weather in mind. The humidity levels, already high at 94% today, will continue to hover between 78% and 90%, contributing to that familiar sticky monsoon discomfort. Temperatures will mostly remain between 31 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius, offering no major relief despite the rains. Kullu Weather: Cloudy Skies and Rainy Spells ContinueWhile Dehradun prepares for gusty winds and thunderstorms, Kullu in Himachal Pradesh is also set to experience persistent rain and cloudy conditions over the coming days. According to the latest local weather report issued on 27 June, Kullu will see moderate rain with a yellow alert for heavy rainfall on 27, 29, and 30 June. Despite thunderstorms being predicted for 28 June, no warnings have been issued for that day or the early days of July. From 1 to 2 July, the region will see light to moderate rain, but no weather alerts have been flagged, indicating slightly calmer conditions. Day temperatures are expected to touch 35 degrees Celsius, while night temperatures will hover around 19–21 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are moderate, sitting at around 63% in the evenings. With the IMD issuing regular alerts, locals and tourists in Dehradun and nearby regions are advised to stay informed through official weather updates. It’s best to carry rain gear, avoid waterlogged routes, and keep emergency essentials handy. While the rains bring much-needed respite from the summer heat, the accompanying thunderstorms and wind may catch people off guard if not prepared.
