Jurassic World: Rebirth star Jonathan Bailey has capitalised on the buzz surrounding him and his film, specifically his “slutty little glasses” by unveiling a new collaboration aimed at supporting LGBTQ+ causes.
Bailey stars alongside Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Rupert Friend in the latest film in the Jurassic franchise set to be released on 2 July.
And despite everything else surrounding the film, the one thing that has had the internet in a firm chokehold has been Bailey’s choice of eyewear.
From the moment the first promotional images of Bailey as the bespectacled Dr Henry Loomis were released people have gone crazy for them. The fervour has been so much that Bailey even began promoting the film in them and said he’s “thrilled” at the reaction.
Now, the actor has unveiled a collaboration between the brand Cubitts, who provided the glasses his character wears in the film (and that Bailey has actually used himself for 10 years), and his own charitable foundation, The Shameless Fund.
Set up last year, The Shameless Fund aims “to use brand collaborations to raise money to support LGBTQ+ rights and organisations.”
Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday (26 June), Bailey, who teased an “exciting” collaboration earlier in the week, unveiled the new product.
Labelling them “Shameless little glasses” Bailey and Fallon showed off the pink-lensed glasses that match the style worn by Bailey in Jurassic World: Rebirth.
Bailey then confirmed the glasses would be available on the Cubitts website and encouraged everyone to follow The Shameless Fund, which he said had raised nearly a million (he didn’t specify dollars or pounds) in a year.
We can’t see that the glasses are available yet but we will be keeping an eye (pun not intended) out for them.
Aside from his acting career Bailey has made waves advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. When accepting an Olivier award for his performance in the musical Company in 2019 the actor called out those targeting LGBTQ+-inclusive education.
He also raised more than £30,000 ($40,100) for Just Like Us, an LGBTQ+ youth charity, after he became their patron in 2023.
Jurassic World: Rebirth is out on 2 July.
