Dubai: Emirates NBD has notified some customers that international transfers made through its DirectRemit service will carry a Dh26.25 fee per transaction starting September 1, 2025.Emirates NBD’s DirectRemit service previously allowed instant and free transfers to banks in India, Philippines, Pakistan, Egypt, Sri Lanka, and the United Kingdom, with a minimum transfer of Dh100. This update marks a change from the bank鈥檚 previous offering, where DirectRemit transfers to countries that fall under its ‘popular remittance corridor’ were free of charge. The new fee will now apply to all international transfers made through the bank鈥檚 mobile app (ENBD X) and its online banking platform.In an email sent to the customers, as seen by Gulf News, Emirates NBD stated that the fixed charge of Dh26.25 (inclusive of VAT) will be deducted for each cross-border transfer initiated via the above-mentioned digital channels.The notice reads: 鈥淓ffective Monday, September 1, 2025, charge of Dh26.25 will be applicable for International Transfers (Including DirectRemit) remittance service initiated from ENBD X or Online Banking. The fee is inclusive of VAT.鈥.How does it work with other UAE banks?International wire transfers by UAE banks typically carry fees ranging from Dh20 to Dh60, depending on the channel and destination. With this update, Emirates NBD is now aligning DirectRemit with the fee structure already applied to most other forms of international transfers across UAE banks.Customers are advised to review their transfer history to understand how the change may affect them and to consider comparing rates and fees with other available services.Emirates NBD has not announced any changes to its existing exchange rate margins or processing times as part of this update.
