Two arrested over counterfeit version of Sun Pharma drugs seized in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, has arrested two individuals involved in dealing with spurious 鈥楻osuvas F 20鈥 and 鈥楻osuvas F 10鈥 tablets, falsely claimed to be manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. The accused were arrested by the Drugs Control Administration officers and produced before the Hon鈥檅le II Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court, Nampally, Hyderabad. The court ordered a 14-day judicial remand for the two accused, until 9th July, 2025, and they were subsequently sent to Chanchalguda Jail. The arrested individuals have been identified as Praveen Kumar Kanodia, of Ganga Pharma Distributors, and Mithinti Srinivas, of Sri Nandini Pharma, both operating out of the Koti area in Hyderabad. The incident was reported by Medical Dialogues, which noted that the arrests followed raids by the DCA on two dealers 鈥 Ganga Pharma Distributors and Sri Nandini Pharma. The raids led to the detection of Spurious Drugs (Counterfeit Versions) Rosuvas F 20 and Rosuvas F 10 which were seized by the DCA officers on 19th June, 2025.Rosuvas F 20 and Rosuvas F 10 Tablets are used to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood and help prevent heart-related problems. A comparison statement for the suspected batches was obtained from the original manufacturer, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., against the corresponding original batches. The manufacturer confirmed that the batches of 鈥楻osuvas F 20鈥 and 鈥楻osuvas F 10鈥 Tablets (Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate Tablets) detected by the Drugs Control Administration were indeed 鈥淐ounterfeit Drugs鈥.Spurious drugs pose a significant threat to public health, endangering patients’ well-being. These drugs not only fail to treat the intended diseases but can also lead to severe health complications over time.
