UK tourists are warned of strict new rules now in force in Albufeira – and those caught flouting them could face fines of up to 鈧1,800 (around 拢1,500). The coastal city has announced a new 鈥榗ode of conduct鈥 which cracks down on inappropriate behaviour. Albufeira is located in the southern Algarve region of Portugal. It鈥檚 a popular holiday destination among Brits, known for its huge beaches and bustling nightlife. But now the destination has introduced strict rules for public places, including bans on drinking alcohol in the street, excessive noise and full nudity in public. The fines range from 鈧150 to 鈧1,800. Those found fully naked in public or engaging in sexual acts or 鈥榮imulations鈥 in public face penalties ranging from 鈧500 to 鈧1,800. At the other end of the scale, fines of 鈧150 and 鈧750 can be issued for acts such as spitting on the ground, misuse of public furniture or abandoning shopping trolleys. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has updated its travel advice for Portugal in light of the new rules, warning Brits of the code.
