Jagannath Rath Yatra draws a throng of devotees from different parts of India. During the yatra, lord Jagannath along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra travel in colourful chariots from the their temple in Puri to Gundicha temple that is known to be lord Jagannath’s maternal aunt’s home. The yatra commenced from today, that is, June 27. Devotees who participate in this yatra do so out of reverence and sincerity. If you’re someone who feels sad for not being able to make it to the yatra, then fret not. There are certain things or remedies that you can do at home to seek the blessings of the lord. Take an early bath and then wear clean clothes.It is said that yellow is the colour that is dear to lord Jagannath. Therefore, one must try wearing something in yellow.Clean the place of worship and sprinkle Ganga water so that the atmosphere becomes pure and auspicious. You can place the idols of deities on a yellow or red piece of cloth and then start with the prayers. It is considered auspicious. You can also start the prayer by blowing the conch and ringing the bell for a positive start.Bathe lord Jagannath in Panchamrit (you can prepare it by mixing milk, curd, ghee, honey and Ganga water). Then make sure you dress the lord in fresh and new clothes. You can also offer fresh flowers, akshat (rice), sandalwood and kumkum to the lord. Did you know khichdi is lord Jagannth’s favourite?
