Sardaar Ji 3 Producer Does Not Want To Work With Pakistani Actors: 'I Do Not Support It'

While Diljit Dosanjh鈥檚 upcoming movie, Sardaar Ji 3 has been facing backlash for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, the producer of the film has now said that even he does not support working with artists of a country that has been constantly attacking India. In a recent interview, producer and Managing Director of White Hill Studios Gunbir Singh Sidhu opened up about the criticism that Diljit鈥檚 film has been facing. He explained that Sardaar Ji 3 was shot before the tensions between India and Pakistan escalated and added that they decided not to release the film in India because they understand the national sentiments.
鈥淭hose who are actively involved in the film industry and are aware of day-to-day activities, know that this film was shot in February-March 2025 itself. We shot it in the UK. There was no such atmosphere at that time, work was going on normally between the two countries. The whole atmosphere was normal. There was no restriction from the Government of India or any other institution,鈥 the producer told NDTV.
鈥淲hen we came to know about this attack, we decided that we would not release the film India, because we did not want to hurt the sentiments of our people in any way. We too were hurt by this incident. Keeping this honour in mind, we decided that the film will be released only overseas because our major investment is there. There was no restriction from any government overseas, so it was decided to release there. We did not put the trailer on YouTube in India, nor did we do any kind of promotional activities,鈥 he added.
However, when asked if Indians should still continue to offer work to Pakistani artists, the producer said, 鈥淚 have no two opinions on this. If there is a country that is also working with us and still such attacks are happening from their side, then this is thankless behaviour. And I do not support it.鈥
Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh also broke his silence on the controversy recently and told BBC Asian Network that the project was completed before any of the current political tensions surfaced.
鈥淛ab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in February and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi,鈥 he said, adding that the makers are aware they will incur losses. 鈥淣ow the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them.鈥
Sardaar Ji 3, directed by Amar Hundal, is set for an overseas release on June 27. However, it will not be released in Indian theatres.
