Cancellations and delays to London Euston are expected all day on Friday after a train derailed. Avanti West Coast services between Euston and major UK stations, including Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street, were all affected on Thursday after the incident near Bletchley area. Commuters were seen running across the concourse at Euston to try and cram on Manchester-bound trains. Avanti West Coast issued a warning to passengers on Friday, saying trains that do run are expected to be ‘very busy’. In a statement on social media, Avanti West Coast said: “We are strongly advising customers to check their journey before they travel today, Friday 27 June, following multiple incidents on our route yesterday (26 June) that resulted in severe disruption on our network. “Cancellations and delays to journeys to and from London Euston are expected throughout the morning and into the afternoon following an incident yesterday involving the low speed derailment of a non-passenger train between Watford Junction and Milton Keynes. Those trains that are running are expected to be very busy. “If you were due to travel yesterday between London and Scotland or were impacted by the earlier incident of the derailed train, then your ticket dated 26 June can be used on any Avanti West Coast train via the same route until the end of service today (27 June).” Multiple lines have closed and other trains have been delayed after the 鈥渓ow speed derailment鈥 happened in the Bletchley area in Buckinghamshire at around midday on Friday. The London Northwestern Railway train had no passengers on board. The train remained upright and no injuries were reported. Affected routes include the Avanti West Coast between London Euston and Birmingham New Street; Stoke-on-Trent; Wolverhampton; Manchester Piccadilly; Chester; Wrexham General; Crewe; Holyhead; Liverpool Lime Street; Preston; Blackpool North; Glasgow Central or Edinburgh, and the London Northwestern Railway between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central; Northampton; Birmingham New Street or Crewe. Network Rail said: “The train, which was not in passenger service at the time, is currently blocking two of the four tracks on the West Coast Main Line, which means that a reduced train service is operating to and from London Euston. “Please check before you travel today (Friday 27 June) – there is a reduced service to/from Euston. “Our work to reopen all lines through Milton Keynes is continuing.”
